Peter D Campbell

PeterDCampbell-Author

Peter D. Campbell is a writer and translator. Born in Australia in 1983, he grew up in New Zealand where he developed a love for the great outdoors enjoying sailing and tramping. Having completed high school, he intended to study computer science and political science at the University of Canterbury. His interests quickly led the young scholar astray and he took to studying Russian and Latin.

On completing a his Bachelor of Arts with first class honours he was awarded a scholarship to study in Russia and having studied at St. Petersburg State University, Peter was soon drawn into the stressful and precise world of translation.

Over the next ten years Peter continued working in the translation industry specialising in editing books and journals, and PR. While in Russia Peter was strongly attracted to exploring the psychology and motivation of characters – and living in Russia gave him ample opportunity of meeting people from all over the world and many walks of life. It was these experiences which inspired his first novel In My Brother’s Shadow. On Departing Russia Peter continued to work as a freelance translator and journalist and later returned to his home town of Christchurch to study journalism at New Zealand’s leading journalist training school.

Returning to Russia in 2013, eleven years after his first visit to the country Peter has worked for a number of publications including in the capacity of editor at Russia In Your Pocket and guest writer for the St. Petersburg Times.  Peter has now spent more than six years living in Russia and he finds the country a great source of inspiration when it comes to writing.

Peter brings a lot of personal experience and research into his writing. Peter has almost been killed twice in Russia, he was present in Fiji for a military coup and lived through the Christchurch earthquake where former colleagues and students were killed.

Peter’s main interests include history, psychology, literature and language. He enjoys travelling and does his best to live parallel lives in New Zealand and Europe. The author is a keen fencer and sailor – and does scuba diving. His favourite device is his Kindle but spends more time looking for cool books to load onto it than he does reading.
With ten publications currently available on Amazon Kindle, Peter’s work has made it into the top five on Amazon’s bestseller lists for Literary Mystery, Thriller and Suspense, Psychological Fiction, Roman History and Humour.

An eclectic writer Peter has written in a number of genres including drama, thriller and humour.
